<sh>Candidate Deadline Approaches

<bt>Candidate registration for the Reston Community Center (RCC) Board of Governors' Preference Poll begins Sept. 1. The RCC Board of Governors invites residents of Small District No. 5 to run for a seat on the RCC Board. Board members set center policy, adopt the operating budget, attend monthly public meetings, chair committees and represent the Center at community functions. <sh>Bike Race This Weekend

<bt>The 22nd annual Reston Bike Club Century, a 100-mile bike races starting and finishing at Reston Town Center will be held this Sunday. Sponsored by the Reston Bike Club, the race will take bicyclists through such towns as Leesburg, Hamilton, Purcellville, Round Hill, Hillsboro, Lovettsville and Waterford. Registration begins at 6 a.m. at Town Center the day of the race and costs riders $30. A post-race party will be held at Town Center from noon until 5 p.m. for participants and their family members.

<sh>Plum to Address Community

<bt>Del. Ken Plum (D-Reston) will meet with community members at a Reston Community Center forum on Sept. 13. Plum's appearance is part of an ongoing series called Reston Presents, sponsored by RCC and the Reston Association. A retired Fairfax County school teacher and administrator, Plum has represented Reston in the House of Delegates for 25 years. The forum, which is free, will be held at RCC-Lake at 9 p.m.
