Olivia Claire Rhoads has been selected by the University of Mary Washington in Frederickburg, Va., for Honors Admission for the fall of 2004. Rhoads, the daughter of Robert and Sandra Rhoads of Reston and granddaughter of Richard and Rosalie Griffith of Vienna, is a 2004 graduate of Herndon High School where she was an honor-roll student, a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and sang in the madrigal and jazz choirs. She is also active in her church's youth group.
Xiaoxi Lu of South Lakes High School was among the 25 students who recently graduated from the Points of Light Youth Leadership Institute sponsored by Volunteer Fairfax. The institute provides students with a combination of leadership and community service skills that prepare them for active roles in improving the quality of life in their community. This is the third year it has been offered by Volunteer Fairfax in Fairfax County.
