Crime Report

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY

300 block of N. Thomas Street. On Nov. 19, at 6:48 p.m., a 43-year-old male, was walking when an unknown subject approached him, grabbed him and attempted to grab his wallet. The victim, however, struggled with the subject and the subject ran away. The subject was described as a black male, 25, 5 feet 8 inches, 130 pounds, brown eyes, black hair, wearing a black jacket, white T-shirt, black pants and a black baseball cap.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY,

3300 block of Lee Highway. Sometime between 7 p.m. on Nov. 18, and 8 a.m. on Nov. 20, unknown subject(s) forced entry into a retail business through a roof vent and stole approximately an undisclosed amount of cash.

2700 block of N. Pershing Drive. Sometime between 5 p.m. on Nov. 9 and 9:05 a.m. on Nov. 20, unknown subject(s) entered a business and forcibly opened several cabinets and desks. It is unknown what was taken.

2700 block of Washington Boulevard.  On Nov. 21, at 10;21 p.m., officers responding for a report of a subject tampering with autos located a probable suspect. Further investigation revealed that the subject entered a restaurant and stole a checkbook from a purse that was inside. Tseygaye Mengista, 24, of Arlington, was arrested and charged with burglary and petit larceny. He currently is being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING

2400 block of S. Glebe Road. On Nov. 20, at 5:30 a.m., a 28-year-old male was involved in an altercation with a male acquaintance. During the altercation, the acquaintance produced a handgun and shot the man twice. The man was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

ROBBERY

1000 block of N. Stuart Street. On Nov. 21, at 1:30 p.m., a 16-year-old male, was walking when he was approached by two unknown subject(s) who demanded his money. The victim complied and the subjects fled the scene on foot. Subject No. 1 was described as a black male, 20-25, 6 feet 1 inch, 180 pounds, black hair, dark complexion, wearing a black down jacket, white/gray shirt and tan work boots. Subject No. 2 was described as a black , 20-25, 6 feet 1 inch, 180 pounds, black hair, medium complexion wearing a black baseball hat, black down jacket, blue jeans and tan work boots.

SEXUAL BATTERY

1000 block of N. Stafford Street. On Nov. 20, at 8 p.m., an 18-year-old female was walking when an unknown subject approached woman from behind and grabbed her crotch. Responding officers located the subject. After further investigation, Carlos Hernandez-Cardona, 35, of Arlington was arrested and charged with sexual battery. He currently is being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility.
