<sh>Library Funds in Budget

<bt>At the request of Del. Mark Sickles (D-43rd), Gov. Mark Warner's introduced budget includes $89,000 in additional public library funding for Fairfax County and Fairfax City. The additional funding corrects a long-standing inequity in Virginia’s library funding formula that unfairly singled out the two Northern Virginia jurisdictions for lower aid totals. Under this part of the formula, library systems receive 30 cents per capita up to a population of 600,000, but just 10 cents for each additional resident.
