About 400 volunteers lined up last Sunday to get their assignments for delivering toys and clothing to about 545 families in the community — including 1,500 children — for Our Neighbor's Child.
"Without a doubt, it was phenomenal. There are a lot of people with big hearts," said ONC Executive Director Kelly Lavin of the volunteers, many of whom made the delivery process a family affair. "Everyone did a great job. People were happy to be helping the community."
Now in its 13th season, ONC spent about $13,000 on the effort and received $8,000 from the community this year, but Lavin said carryover funds helped make up the difference. However, she added, "We're going to definitely need financial support before next season."
