For the second year in a row, the intersection of Route 28, Church Road and Waxpool Road remains the most dangerous intersection in Loudoun County, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Every year the Sheriff's Office Traffic Research Analyst compiles the top 10 most dangerous intersections in the county.
The annual study, released last week, shows Route 28 and Old Ox Road once again ranked as the fifth most dangerous intersection in the county. In previous years, dating back to 1998, the intersection had been consistently ranked as one of the top two accident locations.
The study also finds several intersections along Route 7 have seen an increase in accidents. Potomac View Road at Route 7 saw seven more accidents in 2003. The intersection of Route 7 and Ashburn Road rose to 76 accidents in 2003, up nine from the previous year. And Ashburn Village Boulevard returned to the top 10 after seeing a decrease in accidents in 2002.
The following is the annual ranking of those intersections for accidents for the calendar year 2003. These statistics are compiled based on Sheriff's Office data and does not include accidents worked by the Virginia State Police nor the Leesburg Police Department.
