City police are searching for 42-year-old Tyrone Bean who's wanted for at least seven burlaries, all of which, according to police, occurred within a five week period during the latter part of 2003. Two were committed in the last week of December.
A pattern was established when the suspect seemed to strike during the weekdays only and usually during daylight hours between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The burglaries have occurred at the Luna Park Apartments - across from the Potomac Yards Shopping Center on Jefferson Davis Hwy. Each apartment that has been burglarized has been adjacent to a stairwell or elevator. Force was always used and usually through the front doors.
This suspect has also hit Colcroft townhouses across from the Braddock Street Metro on three occasions. In most all of the burglaries, he's fenced the stolen property at pawn shops in Prince Georges County.
Most of the stolen property has been recovered and returned to the victims. However, some jewelry is still missing. Bean has a history of fighting with police and is believed to be armed and dangerous.
“When he enters these residences, he has used force and has ransacked the homes in a manner that indicates to us that he is violent,” said Lt. John Crawford, a spokesperson for the department.
Anyone with information about Bean’s whereabouts should contact the Alexandria Police Department at 703-838-4711.
