Crime Report: July 14

<cal1>MALICIOUS WOUNDING

<lst>*3600 block of South Four Mile Run Drive. At 11:21 p.m. on July 1, units responded to a report of a stabbing. One subject was found suffering from multiple stab wounds. A second subject involved in the incident was found in a residence nearby. The subjects are known to each other, and the investigation is ongoing.

<cal1>ROBBERY

<lst>*4100 block of North Henderson Road. At 10:30 a.m. on July 6, a 79-year-old woman was walking when a subject pushed her to the ground and stole her purse. While reporting the incident, the victim received a call from a local merchant who said that a man was trying to cash a check issued from her bank account. Officers on-scene relayed this information via radio, and police units responded to the business. Police arrested Miguel Antonio Benitez, 19, of Arlington, charging him with robbery and forgery.

*1200 block of South Monroe Street. At 10:40 p.m. on July 1, a 28-year-old woman was walking when a suspect exited a vehicle, grabbed her purse from her shoulder and fled the scene. The suspect was described as a five-foot-nine male with a “skinny” build, who was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and a black bandanna around his forehead. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a two-door black vehicle, possibly a Honda.

*1300 block of South 28th Street. At approximately 3:30 p.m. on June 21, a 32-year-old man was entering a building when two women pinned him against a wall and took his wallet. One woman removed cash from the wallet and punched the victim in the face. The first suspect was described as a black female in her teens, who was wearing a black shirt with white stripes and black pants. The second suspect was described also as a black female in her teens, who was wearing a white shirt and a black skirt.

<cal1>RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

<lst>*1200 block of North Buchanan Street. Between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on July 7, unknown subject(s) entered the residence by breaking a glass windowpane and unlocking a door. Silverware was stolen.

*4000 block of North 9th Street. Between 2:15 a.m. and 5:05 a.m. on July 3, a man entered multiple apartments in the building via unlocked doors. Money was stolen from one apartment, and the suspect was confronted by victims in several apartments. The suspect was described as a 25-year-old, five-foot-seven, 160-pound white male with blue eyes and brown hair, who was wearing a white, long-sleeve shirt, khaki pants and brown shoes.

*4700 block of North 25th Street. Between 11 a.m. and 1:55 p.m. on June 29, a subject entered the residence through an unlocked door. Silverware and jewelry items were stolen.

*1900 block of North Wayne Street. Between 5 p.m. on June 26 and 4:45 p.m. on June 29, a subject entered the residence by breaking a window on a rear door. A firearm was stolen.

*3600 block of South Kemper Road. Between 8 a.m. on June 18 and 12:30 p.m. on June 21, unknown persons entered a residence by tampering with the front door. A laptop, DVD player and bicycle were stolen.

<cal1>COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

<lst>*2200 block of Clarendon Boulevard. Between 7 p.m. on July 6 and 8 a.m. on July 7, unknown subject(s) entered a business and rummaged through desk drawers in multiple offices within the suite. Nothing appeared to be missing at the time of the report.

*5200 block of Lee Highway. Between 5 p.m. on July 2 and 5:42 p.m. on July 5, unknown subject(s) entered the building by prying open a locked door. They broke into a newly-installed ATM, but no money was taken, as it had yet to be serviced.

*5200 block of Lee Highway. Between 4:30 p.m. on July 2 and 8:59 p.m. on July 4, unknown subject(s) entered an office by breaking a glass window adjacent to a locked door. Cash was stolen.

*3100 block of Jefferson Davis Highway. At 4:27 a.m. on June 29, police responded to a burglary alarm. Upon arrival, a subject inside the business was seen through a window but fled the building. Nothing appeared to be missing from the business. The suspect was described as a six-foot, 170-pound, black male, who was wearing dark clothing.

*1000 block of North Fillmore Street. At 1:36 a.m. on June 23, a man threw a rock through the front glass window of a business and went inside. An audible alarm sounded. Coupled with the arrival of police units, the alarm may have frightened the subject, who fled in a car. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a white, four-door compact.

<cal1>ATTEMPT COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

<lst>*1700 block of North George Mason Drive. Between 4:45 p.m. on July 1 and 6:30 a.m. on July 2, unknown subject(s) attempted to enter a construction office by breaking a Plexiglas window. Nothing was missing.

<cal1>DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY

<lst>*1500 block of North Stafford Street/4000 block of North 15th Street. Between 4 p.m. on June 29 and 7:10 a.m. on June 30, unknown subject(s) smashed various windows, lights and mirrors on 11 different parked vehicles.
