Activities for children, teenagers and adults include art, dance, fitness, science and cooking. Costs vary from activity to activity. Discounts are available to residents of McLean.

The McLean Community Center’s main building, at 1234 Ingleside Avenue , will be closed to the public from Sunday, August 1, through Monday, August 30. The Center will reopen at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31. During this time, extensive renovations to the lobby level ceilings and lights will be performed. Patrons will still be able to reach Center staff by phone Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. , and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Patrons may also send messages to the Center’s new E-mail address: mail@mcleancenter.org

Starting on August 16, patrons can drop off activity registration forms in the front vestibule area of the Center. They can also mail registrations or submit a registration form via the Web site: www.mcleancenter.org or by fax at 703-556-0547. Fall registration will begin on Monday, August 23 for residents of the McLean tax district and on August 30 for all others.

Sponsored by the McLean Community Center and supported by a special tax district, the Old Firehouse Teen Center is located across from Starbucks at 1440 Chain Bridge Road, McLean. It sponsors dances, battles of the bands and offers a place for young people to congregate after school. The annual membership of $25, for those living inside the McLean small tax district, includes access to the center, free pool, table tennis, volleyball, discounted admission to events and discounts at local businesses. Those outside the district pay $30. The center is open to all Fairfax County students in grades 7-12. The center sponsors a dance every Friday, 7-10 p.m., for students in grades 7 and 8. 703-448-TEEN.
