<sh>Community Service Day Planned

<bt>Members of the Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and Muslim communities from Reston and Herndon will hold the annual Works Sunday event on Aug. 15. The day will be filled with 13 "action projects," including providing maintenance to group homes for adults with mental retardation, collecting food for Reston Interfaith's food pantry, making bag lunches for the Embry Rucker Community Shelter and cleaning up trash along the W&OD Trail. Volunteers will also feature five "donation projects," in which items will be donated to the Fairfax County Abused Women's Shelter, the Rucker shelter, the Herndon Neighborhood Resource Center, the Laurel Learning Center and the Zaccheus Community Kitchen in Washington, D.C.

<sh>Fun Night to Benefit Nature House

<bt>Reston Chic-fil-A is sponsoring a family fun night next Tuesday, with 10 percent of the proceeds going toward construction of Reston Association's new Nature House. The year-round nature education center, which will be located at the existing Walker Nature Education Center site on Glade Drive, is in need of extra funds because RA decided to make the building more environmentally-friendly, though consequently it has become slightly more expensive. The family fun night will be held at the Reston Chick-fil-A at 12160 Sunset Hills Road. The event will also feature a fire truck from one of Reston's fire stations and finger printing kits, courtesy of the Reston district Crime Prevention Office.
