Dunn Loring Park

Freeman House

131 Church St. N.E., Vienna. A house that has been used as everything from a post office to Civil War hospital is now a museum as well as a general store. For more information, call 703-938-5187.

Glyndon Park

300 Glyndon St. N.E., Vienna. The park has two lighted tennis courts, a field, basketball courts, a picnic area and playground equipment. The pavilion can be reserved for picnics. It costs $25 for a maximum of five hours to reserve the areas for as many as 75 people if the group is from Vienna and $50 for a maximum of five hours for other groups. Kemper Park

Meadow Lane Park

Meadow Lane, Ware Street and Courthouse Road, Vienna. A town park with two lighted tennis courts, basketball courts, a ball field, play field, playground and restrooms. A picnic area may be reserved through the Vienna Community Center, 703-255-6360.

Meadowlark Gardens Regional Park

9750 Meadowlark Gardens Court, Vienna. 703-255-3631. This park offers ponds, gardens, hiking trails, picnic area, an atrium and picturesque landscaping. Gazebos may be reserved for weddings, call 703-255-3631, Ext. 104, to reserve. Hours: June-August, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; September, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; October, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; November-February, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; March, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; April, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; May, 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Admission fees: March-November, $4 for ages 18-59, $2 for ages 7-17 and 60 and older, and free for age 6 and younger. Admission is free December through February. An annual pass is $25.

Nottoway Park

9601 Courthouse Road, Vienna. Nottoway Park offers tennis, basketball and volleyball courts as well as a garden, picnic areas, a fitness trail and a wooded nature path. A fee is charged for tennis court reservations. Oak Marr RECenter

3200 Jermantown Road, Oakton. The center offers an Olympic-size pool, a whirlpool spa, sauna, dry sun deck, weight and fitness room, two racquetball courts, two small meeting rooms and an outdoor miniature golf area. The pool is open Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The general hours of operation as well as the times all courts and rooms are available are Monday-Friday, 5 a.m.-9:30 p.m.; Saturday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Sunday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Miniature golf is open Memorial Day through Labor Day, from 10 a.m. until dusk. Daily general admission fees for Fairfax County residents are $6 for adults, $4 for youths 5-18, $4 for students 18-21, and children under 4 are free with a paying adult. Seniors pay $4 Monday-Friday; $6 for Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Families with up to four members and up to two adults are $13. Chaperons who don't participate with paying child are $1.50. Nonresident adults, youth and seniors are $8, children under 4 are free, and families with up to four members with up to two adults are $23. Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park

21293 Smiths Switch Road, Ashburn. Running through Northern Virginia, the 45-mile-long W&OD Trail is used daily by cyclists, in-line skaters, hikers and joggers. Between Vienna and Purcellville, a separate 35-mile trail is open for horses. The trail follows the old W&OD Railroad's abandoned right of way from Shirlington Circle at I-395 in south Arlington through Fairfax County to Purcellville in Loudoun County. Wolf Trap Park

1551 Trap Road, Vienna. The national park is home to many concerts and performances from a variety of artists as well as the Wolf Trap Opera Company.
