Supervisor Sharon Bulova (D-Braddock) named Vernon Sones and Ray Steele as Braddock District Citizens of the Year for 2004 at the June 8 Braddock District Annual Picnic. Bulova gathered with politicians and community activists to recognize several candidates in the Best of Braddock category, before announcing the citizen of the year.
Sones was recognized for his efforts with children, the Immanuel Bible Church and the Chapel Square West Community. Steele served as the Braddock District representative on the Fairfax County Human Services Commission. In addition, Steele is a member of the Civitan Club of Fairfax, volunteers and drives a school bus for children with special needs at the Fairfax Villa Elementary School.
