nts from 13 Ashburn area schools received Outstanding Citizenship Awards at the ninth annual awards ceremony held by the Ashburn Ruritan Club on Wednesday, June 2 at the Eagle Ridge Middle School in Ashburn. United States Savings Bonds were presented to Elementary and Middle School students, and cash scholarships provided to high school students. Plaques engraved with the winning student's name and past year winners were provided each school for display. The Ruritans also made a cash donation for library books to the new Belmont Station Elementary School opening next fall in Ashburn.

The Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center is holding auditions on June 26 and 28 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. for "Twelfth Night." Actors should prepare a speech of no more than sixteen lines from the play and are encouraged to bring a headshot and resume.

Mothers and the Law, a support/focus group for women with an interest in promoting justice for mothers and children of separation and divorce, meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the library of McLean Baptist Church, 1367 Chain Bridge Rd, McLean. Share experiences as litigants in the courts of Virginia. For more information, call 703-421-6203 or 703-748-0072.

American Legion. The Ashburn American Legion Post meets every second Thursday of the month at Wingler House located on Gloucester Blvd. in Ashburn Village. Birthday Blessing, Inc. A nonprofit organization created to deliver gifts to needy children who might not receive a gift on their birthday. Birthday Blessing finds these children through social services, homeless shelters, youth shelters and prison ministries. The organization is looking for sponsors, new toys for children 3-16 years old, new books, wrapping paper, birthday cards and shipping boxes.
