Accident Disrupts Parkway

<bt>Vickie Sue Neff, 37, of Herndon, hit a light pole on Herndon Parkway between the two intersections of Summerfield Drive around 4:15 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27, according to police. The collision resulted in the parkway being reduced to one lane in both the north and south directions until approximately 8:30 p.m.

Neff was subsequently arrested and charged with DWI and refusal to submit to a breath test. She was held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.

There were no injuries reported.

<sh>Woman Charged with Reckless Driving

<bt>An 18-year-old Ashburn woman was charged with reckless driving Monday night after a two-vehicle accident on Waxpool Road that sent a Herndon man to an area hospital with serious injuries. Abigail Clouse was merging onto westbound Waxpool Road from Pacific Boulevard shortly after 10 p.m. when she cut across two lanes of traffic in front of a 1997 Honda Civic, striking the car, according to the Sheriff's Office. The driver of the Civic, Matthew Vereb, 24, who was ejected from his vehicle, was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he is being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries. Vereb was not wearing his seatbelt. Clouse, who was driving a 1997 Honda Accord, was taken to Loudoun Hospital where she was treated and released. Vereb has also been charged with driving under the influence and driving without insurance.

<sh>Express Care Seminar

<bt>Express Care, a community-based assistance organization, will be sponsoring a free seminar Friday, March 5, at the Neighborhood Resource Center, 1986 Elden St., from 1-2:30 p.m., on affordable housing for low-income families. The aim of the presentation is to teach people who are eligible how to apply to the Department of Housing and Community Development for assistance. Kevin Amin, supervisor of the Housing Application Center and resident manager, will be on hand.

<sh>Meeting Canceled

<bt>The Board of Zoning Appeals meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 25, has been canceled due to a lack of applications.

<sh>Candidate Forum

<bt>The Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce and HCTV will host the biannual Candidates Forum for the Town of Herndon Thursday, April 29, beginning at 7 p.m., at the Council Chambers, 765 Lynn St.

The public is invited to attend the free event and there will be an opportunity for questions from the audience and the local press.

All of those running for the offices of mayor and Town Council are requested to contact the chamber at 703-437-5556 in order to receive an invitation to participate.
