Shooting Leaves One in Critical Condition

One victim remains in critical condition and one has been treated and released after a shooting on Duke Street last Friday night.

Alexandria police were called to the Cameron Commons apartment complex in the 4300 block of Duke Street shortly after 10 p.m. on April 30. Witnesses said that a silver colored newer model Honda with tinted windows entered the complex, drove slowly to a dead end, turned around and someone from inside the car began firing a semi-automatic weapon at a parked car. Four individuals were in that 1998 red Plymouth Expresso.

One bullet struck a 17-year-old Oakton resident in the upper torso. As the Honda left the area, the suspect continued firing, striking a 26-year-old male in the head. That victim, a bystander, was only grazed. He was taken to Inova Alexandria Hospital where he was treated and released.

The 17-year-old was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition. Police have not arrested a suspect.
