<lst>11100 block Corobon Lane
On April 20, just after midnight, a homeowner reported a raccoon had gotten into his dog pen. His two dogs had killed the raccoon. The dogs were not injured. The carcass was sent to the Fairfax County Health Department where it tested positive for rabies. The dogs were current on their rabies vaccination shots and were given a booster as well. Both dogs will be home quarantined for 45 days.
11100 block Lake Chapel Lane
On Friday April 30 around 11 a.m., a Reston area woman was walking her terrier near the 11100 block of Lake Chapel Lane. A black and brown pit bull approached and attacked her terrier. The pit bull ran away with the terrier in its mouth. Neighbors tried to get the terrier loose, but they were not successful. The pit bull released the terrier, which had succumbed to its injuries. Animal Control was contacted and an officer was able to capture the pit bull. The owner, Diana Parter, 33, of Villa Ridge Drive in the Reston area, was charged with having an unrestricted dog. She also released the pit bull to the custody of Animal Control and the dog was euthanized.
North Shore Drive/Temporary Road
On April 28, at 6:45 p.m., a Round Hill, Va. woman was riding her bicycle when a leashed dog charged at her bicycle and bit her left thigh. The owner of the dog dragged the dog off and walked away. The dog was described as weighing about 35 pounds, black with a tan belly and pointy ears and nose. The woman walking the dog was described as white, in her late 20s, 5 feet 3 inches tall with a medium build. She had long, brown hair that was pulled back and was wearing a beige trench coat.
