AOL Provides More Scholarships

America Online has become a major sponsor of the Loudoun Volunteer Services scholarship program, enabling the LVS to double the number of scholarships given to student volunteers.

The number will increase from 11 annual scholarships to 22, said Leon Evans, president of the LVS Board of Directors. ÒWith AOLÕs investment and the investment of other businesses in our community, many more students will be motivated to start a lifetime of community service.Ó

Rich DÕAmato, AOL vice president of community investment, said the company is proud to join other Loudoun businesses in making an investment in the education and future of student volunteers. DÕAmato has been working with the Loudoun Youth Initiative to find ways to keep teens away from drugs, violence and gangs. AOL sponsored a youth symposium two weeks ago.

The Loudoun Volunteer Services has awarded 45 scholarships to high school senior volunteers in recent years.
