Ambassador Joseph Wilson, author of "The Politics of Truth: Inside the Lies that Led to War and Betrayed My Wife's CIA Identity" will be interviewed on Reston Impact, a program on Reston Community Television.
Wilson is expected to discuss his 22-year career as a diplomat, including the last months with Saddam Hussein before the first Gulf War while he was acting ambassador to Iraq, as well as his 2002 investigation of the Bush Administration's claim that Iraq attempted to purchase uranium in Niger.
Following Wilson's investigation, which concluded Iraq had not tried to buy nuclear materials in Niger, the White House continued to use the allegation in public statements, including the 2003 State of the Union Address. Frustrated that the government continued to use what he saw as a discredited claim, Wilson wrote an opinion piece for the New York Times lambasting the Bush Administration.
In response, an as-yet-unidentified individual leaked to several media outlets that Wilson's wife was an undercover CIA operative. Syndicated columnist Bob Novak published her name. A Justice Department investigation into the leak, which may be a felony, is still being conducted.
The interview with Wilson will be broadcast on Comcast Cable Access Channel 28 on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 10 p.m. and on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 8:30 p.m.
