A truck carrying a full load of mulch overturned onto the Dulles Toll Road at Springhill Rd. late Tuesday morning. The truckÕs dumpster overturned, spilling its cargo onto three lanes of road as the driver was attempting to merge onto the Toll Road from the curved on-ramp.
According to Virginia State Police officials, traffic was closed down on three lanes of the Toll Road and cars were diverted onto the airport access road before the main toll plaza . Drivers were then directed to return to the toll road at Hunter Mill Rd., about two miles down from the scene of the accident.
Clean up took several hours and an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway. No injuries were reported.
