St. Joseph's School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) presents a benefit performance of "Late Nite Catechism," an interactive comedy by Vicki Quade and Maripat Donovan. Monies earned benefit the PTO and the school's new drama ministry. At the St. Joseph's School gymnasium, 750 Peachtree St., Herndon, Saturday, Oct. 16. Fairfax County Public Schools' new superintendent, Jack Dale, will be discussing his vision for the Fairfax County Public Schools and addressing current interests at the cluster 7 meeting at Oakton High School's media center, 2900 Sutton Road, Vienna, Thursday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. A question and answer period with Dale and School Board members follows.

On Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m., Jack Dale, the new superintendent of the Fairfax County Public Schools, will speak and answer questions about gifted education and programs. The meeting is located in the Little Theatre at Falls Church High School, 7521 Jaguar Trail, Falls Church. Four Herndon High School students were selected for the State Honors Choir: Adam Spalletta, Margaret Frost, Sara Black, Wyna Phonseya. They will be attending the state music convention to participate in the honors choir program Thursday, Nov. 18; Friday Nov. 19 and Sat.

Nov. 20.

In addition nine students are attending the All County Men's Choir event Thursday Nov. 11: senior Jeremy Winston; juniors Matthew Feltz, Dennis Bowers, Matthew Thorsen, Gareth Lange; and sophomores David Miranda, Nate Tao, Bart Hancock and Andy Hulme.

Seth Lindberg of Oak Hill was among more than 545 students who participated in the Goon Squad in August as part of Syracuse University's orientation program. For new students. The Goon Squad consists of volunteer upperclassmen who assist new students and their parents as they move into residence halls and at other events throughout the orientation program.

The Herndon High School Drama Department will present "Inherit the Wind," by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, Nov. 11-13, at 7:30 p.m., in the Herndon High School auditorium. Visit www.herndondrama.org for more information.

Long & Foster Real Estate Inc., announces the Long & Foster $200,000 Scholarship Program for graduating high-school seniors entering an accredited four-year college or university. The program will award $1,000 to each of 200 recipients for the 2005-2006 academic year. The monetary scholarship award will be made payable directly to the college or university in the student's name. The deadline for applying is March 1, 2005 and the scholarships will be awarded in the beginning of April 2005. A selection committee will select the final scholarship winners by April 15, 2005. Eligible high-school seniors must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, demonstrate leadership and financial need, indicate positions of leadership and list all school groups and/or community organizations in which they have served or been involved in, and any part-time job held while in school. In addition, applicants are asked to write a short essay on either their most significant high-school experience or their expectations for college.

Applications for the program can be obtained from any of the Long & Foster's residential sales offices, from high-school guidance counselors or via Long & Foster's Web site at http://www.longandfoster.com/scholarship.
