Carolyn "Jake" Edrington

Carolyn "Jake" Edrington, now of Eagle, Colo., but formerly known as Jake Boguess of Alexandria, died Saturday, Aug. 14 in Colorado from a cardiac arrest. She was 59. Jake, as her family and friends called her, had been recently diagnosed with chronic heart failure.

Edrington, born and raised in Lynchburg, Va., attended E.C. Glass High School and Virginia InterMont College. She then lived in Alexandria for 22 years, before moving to Colorado in 1986.

Edrington was a former member of Belle Haven Country Club, where she was active in tennis. She coached Little League softball and soccer for several years and taught Sunday school at Plymouth Haven Baptist Church. She was a proud Republican, involved in local politics for years in Alexandria and in Washington, D.C.

Edrington is survived by daughter, Connie Lynne-Ulrych, and her family of Carbondale, Colo., son, Brian Boguess, and his family of Livermore, Ca., her father, Roy Jacobson, and his wife, Edith of Forest, Va., and three grandchildren.

Jake was cremated. A "Celebration of Life" service was held at her home in Colorado.
