On Aug. 15, T.J. Fannon was honored for 50 years of service with healing and cooling firm Thomas J. Fannon & Sons in Alexandria. Fannon, an Alexandria native, is the third generation of the family to work in the company. Fannon is also active with the Rotary Club, the Alexandria Hospital, and other civic associations. The Board of Directors of the Greater Washington Metro Boys and Girls Clubs has honored Carole M. Rogin with its National Service to Youth Award. Rogin is the founder, president and CEO of Clarion Management Resources Inc., a professional association management firm headquartered in Alexandria.

The award recognized Rogin’s two decades of service to the Alexandria Olympic Boys and Girls Club. During that time, she served as one of the board’s vice presidents, as a director and as chair of several committees. Her company created the “Fore the Kids” Golf Tournament, the club’s largest annual fund-raising event.

Clarion Management Resources Inc. provides headquarters and staff to 12 national and international trade associations, professional societies and foundations.

Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Oliver J. Gutierrez, son of Mercedes Daleney of Alexandria and more than 2, 000 Marines and Sailors assigned to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), recently began the process of ensuring security and stability in the central Iraqi province of Northern Babil. Operating from Forward Operating Base Kalsu, Gutierrez's unit's first order of business was to establish rapport with their neighbors and let them know they are prepared to help them in any way they can. Gutierrez is a 2001 graduate of George C. Marshall High School of Falls Church and joined the Marine Corps in July 2001.
