The Long & Foster Companies, the largest privately-owned real estate company in America, reported August 2004 total sales of $5 billion for the month, an increase of 26 percent over August 2003. It was the best August in the firm's 36-year history. Long & Foster sales have been up consistently in the first eight months of 2004.

Kathy Start of the Burke/Fairfax Station branch of Weichert, Realtors was honored as the office's top producer for the month of August, leading the way in dollar volume, revenue units, listings, listings sold and total sales.

Carter Knapp was recently appointed Coldwell Banker's vice president of education for the mid-Atlantic region, including Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C. and Delaware. Knapp is responsible for education programs for over 4,600 sales associates and managers in 90 offices. Knapp had previously founded a real estate technology firm, been a senior vice president for a Coldwell Banker real estate company in Utah and has served as the national director of training for a real estate corporation. He was also the manager of the Coldwell Banker Move Center. Knapp resides in Burke.
