<sh>New RA Chief

May Soon Be Hired

<bt>A new Reston Association executive vice president may be hired soon, possibly as early as Thursday night at RAÕs Board of Directors regular meeting. The position has been vacant since June, when RAÕs former EVP Gerald Volloy stepped down to work for a division of LexisNexis that provides technology solutions to U.S. government intelligence agencies. Rick Beyer, president of the RA board, said the directors have spent the last few months sifting through hundreds of applications for the position, which is the top executive job for RestonÕs homeowners association.

<sh>Public Forum to Focus

On Parks, Recreation

<bt>The second of two public forums, involving the public input phase of the planning process for the Reston Association Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan update, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m., at the Glade Room, 11550 Glade Drive. The forum is open to the public, and its purpose is to seek input from the community and neighborhood residents about the state of the RA park, recreation and open space facilities systems and programs, and the community's vision for its future facility system and programming needs. Reston Fund-raiser

<bt>Lt. Gov. Tim Kaine (D) will be in town on Sunday at the Reston Town Center restaurant, Obi Sushi, to raise money for his gubernatorial campaign. Kaine is the presumptive Democratic nominee for VirginiaÕs governor for next yearÕs election. He is expected to run against Attorney General Jerry Kilgore (R), who is the likely Republican nominee for the seat. Gov. Mark Warner (D) can serve only one term because Virginia has a one-term limit for governors.
