Hundreds of people tried to guess the winning combination of the vault containing $10,000. Nobody succeeded.
However, several lucky winners received other prizes at the new Virginia Commerce Bank’s grand celebration. Among those prizes given by Virginia Commerce Bank was a $500 Certificate of Deposit and assorted gift baskets. The radio station promoting the event, 94.7/The Arrow, gave away t-shirts, Allman Brothers tickets and other goodies.
On hand for the event was Peter A. Converse, president and CEO, Linda K. Martin, assistant vice president and Mount Vernon branch manager, and other bank officials and employees.
Children enjoyed jumping on the moon bounce and asking the clowns to make special balloons. Young and old grooved to the music of 94.7/The Arrow with Cerphe as the disc jockey. Ample plates of Mexican food were served to the guests and there were plenty of opportunities to tour the new branch.
