<sh>2 Charged in Sobriety Stop
<bt>Fairfax County Police Officers in the McLean District Station conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Friday, April 8, from 11:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Police stopped all motorists and the drivers were checked to assure their abilities to drive had not been impaired by alcohol or drugs. Approximately 549 cars passed through the checkpoint conducted on Gallows Road at Cedar Street. Two motorists were arrested for driving while intoxicated, one criminal charge was issued and eight other traffic offenses were cited.

<bt>In the story “Grasscrete Ahead” [Vienna Connection, April 6-12, 2005], the change in the Town of Vienna’s tax relief program was misstated. Town residents who are seniors or have a disability and have a net worth, excluding their house, of $240,000 or less are eligible for relief.
<sh>Library Conducts Phone Survey
<bt>The Fairfax County Public Library is conducting a telephone survey April 17-30, to better understand how residents view the library and to help with future planning. Questions should only take about 10 minutes to answer. Interviewers will identify themselves as conducting a survey for the Fairfax County Public Library, and will ask to speak to a resident ages 18 or older.

<sh>Auditions for Children's Musical
<bt>Auditions may be scheduled beginning Monday, May 2 for the Vienna Youth Players' summer musical, "Seussical." Open to ages 11 to 18, the auditions take place June 3, 6:30-9:30 p.m., and June 4, 12-3 p.m., at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St., S.E. <sh>Apply for CARE Awards
<bt>Northern Virginia companies can now apply for the 2005 CARE (Companies As Responsive Employers) Awards administered by Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS). The CARE Awards recognize businesses located (not necessarily headquartered) in Northern Virginia that are leaders in promoting a positive work-life balance for employees through company policies and benefits. The application can be downloaded from the Northern Virginia Family Service Web site at www.nvfs.org/applyforcare.pdf and must be submitted by June 10.
<sh>Watershed Forum on Saturday
<bt>Fairfax County sponsors a community forum on the Middle Potomac Watersheds, which includes Pimmit Run, Scotts Run, Turkey Run, Dead Run and Bull Neck Run, on Saturday, April 16, from 12:30-4:30 p.m., at Longfellow Middle School, 2000 Westmoreland St., McLean.
Participants will have an opportunity to provide input to help identify problems and issues affecting the restoration of the five Middle Potomac stream valleys. The Middle Potomac watershed planning process began in September 2004 and will be completed in March 2006. The county hired the team of Woolpert Inc., and the University of Virginia’s Institute for Environmental Negotiation to encourage community involvement, analyze data on existing watershed problems and provide recommendations on how to solve them. Families, developers, business owners, civic associations, neighborhood groups and everyone who lives or works in the five watersheds is encouraged to attend the community forum on April 16. <bt>Leadership Fairfax Inc., has named Wednesday, April 20 "Ask Me About LFI" Day in Fairfax County. This day has been set selected to increase awareness of Leadership Fairfax in the community and give alumni a chance to show how active LFI is in all that they do. LFI alumni are wearing red "Ask Me About LFI" stickers that will identify them to the community as a graduate of Leadership Fairfax and encourage those not familiar to the program to ask about it.
