Burglary Charges Move Forward

The criminal charges against a Centreville man are heading to the grand jury. He is David F. Kuntz, 20, of 5595 Pickwick Road. Fairfax County police believe he committed two burglaries within a month of each other, and his resulting charges are now moving through the court system.

He's accused of burglarizing London Towne Elementary on Jan. 24. Police rushed to the school, early that morning, around 2:30 a.m., in response to an alarm and discovered one of the modular buildings (trailers) to the rear of the school had been broken into.

The police helicopter and a K-9 unit also responded, and patrol officers reportedly apprehended Kuntz near the school. Police say items stolen from the school included crayons, markers and a cowboy hat.

Following his arrest, Kuntz was released on $1,000 bond. But just a month later, police again charged him with another breaking and entering that occurred elsewhere on Feb. 23.

He appeared last Wednesday, April 20, in General District Court and, at that time, both burglary charges were certified to the next grand jury for possible indictment. If convicted, he could be sentenced to as much as 10 years in prison total.
