Wellspring United Church of Christ will celebrate Communion Sunday, May 1, at 10 a.m. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Michaele Moore of Washington, D.C. The day’s offering will include items for the Western Fairfax Ministries food pantry. A fellowship hour with fair trade coffee and treats follows the worship. The 22nd annual Walk for Life will be held on Saturday, May 14, at three locations in northern Virginia. Sponsored by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington (CCDA), the walk will raise funds for adoption services, foster care, and crisis pregnancy counseling. CCDA serves seven cities and 21 counties in northern Virginia.

Simultaneous walks will take place at Fort Hunt Park (Area A) in Alexandria, Paul VI High School in Fairfax, and Broad Run High School in Ashburn. Participants can register on-line (go to www.ccda.net and select “annual events”) or call 703-425-0100 for a registration form. Check-in and on-site registration will begin at 10 a.m. at Fort Hunt and Paul VI and 11 a.m. at Broad Run. The walk is 5-K long. Participants will receive a T-shirt and complimentary picnic lunch. Basic registration is $15. Seniors may register for $1, and a family may register for $40, which covers lunch and four T-shirts.

Walkers are encouraged to collect donations (not pledges), which are tax deductible and may be turned in May 14 at the time of check-in or mailed to Catholic Charities, 200 N. Glebe Road, Arlington, VA 22203.

The third annual NoVaShir Choral Festival will take place May 22 at 4 p.m. in George Mason University’s Harris Theater. Admission is free. NoVaShir gives Jewish choirs the opportunity to individually present a few of the songs they love as well as to join together to create a spirit-filled multi-age combined choir nearly 150 members strong.

"RX for Loving Relationships." New Life Christian Church is hosting a new 18-week course that provides practical insights and information for achieving and maintaining close and successful intimate relationships. Each session includes a video by Gary Smalley and a group discussion dealing with some aspect of the video’s content. Result? New Life Christian Church is starting a new message series, “Old School Faith.” The messages will examine the faith demonstrated by various people as described in the Old Testament of the Bible.
