<sh>McLean Man Killed
<bt>A 20-year-old McLean-area man was killed in the Mount Vernon area last week. According to police, on Thursday, Aug. 25 around 8 p.m., police responded to 6107 Beech Tree Drive for reports of a shooting. Inside the residence police said they found Anthony Sherbaf, of the 8000 block of Birnam Wood Drive, dead from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Police arrested Brendan Klos, 21, of the 6100 block of Beech Tree Drive and transported him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Klos was held without bond. The arrested and the victim were known to each other, police said.
The family was not immediately available for contact.
A statement from Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington, where both Klos and Sherbaf graduated in 2003, said "We are sorry to hear about this tragic event and will keep both families in our thoughts and prayers." No funeral or memorial service information was available Tuesday morning.
<sh>Holy Transfiguration Church Hosts 12th Annual Festival
<bt>Holy Transfiguration Melkite Greek-Catholic Church will host its 12th annual Middle Eastern Food Festival Sept. 3 and 4, on the church grounds, 8501 Lewinsville Road, McLean. The festival will feature authentic Middle Eastern food, pastries, Lebanese beer and wine, live music and dancing, vendors, church tours and activities for both children and adults.
Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon–7 p.m. Sunday. There will be an $11 roast lamb dinner at 7 p.m. Saturday and another at 4 p.m. Sunday. Debke dance instructors will give lessons, and there will be backgammon and chess tournaments and a silent auction. For children, there will be a moon bounce, face painting, story tellers, a water balloon toss, bean bag toss, sack races, volleyball and a marble pool. The event will be held rain or shine. <sh>Police Seeking Help
<bt>A 29-year-old Reston man was robbed at gunpoint, according to Fairfax County Police who are investigating a robbery that occurred in the 2400 block of South Gate Square in the Reston area on Monday, Aug. 22 at 9:15 p.m. The victim was walking down a pathway when approached by three men. According to police, the suspects demanded money from the victim at gunpoint. The victim gave the suspects an undisclosed amount of money and personal property. The suspects then hit the victim in the head with the weapon, knocking him to the ground. The suspects continued to kick him in the upper body. The victim was taken to Inova Reston hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects left on foot in an unknown direction. The investigation is continuing.
One suspect was described as black, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 150 pounds and 20 years old. There is no description of the other two suspects.

<bt>A destruction of property was committed in the 1400 block of Dolley Madison Boulevard some time between Friday, July 29 and Monday, Aug. 1, according to police. Graffiti that contained disparaging language was spray painted on the surface of a tennis court using black paint. Police are investigating the incident. <bt>The McLean-area American Association of University Women's 36th annual used book sale is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, at the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean. Over 30,000 books, tapes, CDs and videos were collected for the sale, which benefits scholarships for women.
