Snow Falls in Potomac

Montgomery County Public Schools were closed Dec. 9 as the area had its second snowfall in less than a week. The snow fell overnight Thursday and melted off quickly in Friday's bright sun, giving children a short window to get out to local sledding hills.

Fire and rescue officials were busy responding to more than 60 accidents in the county, but no serious injuries were reported.

Potomac was mostly quiet, with whitetail deer adjusting easily to the snowy environment and horses grazing lazily on the blanket of snow at the Avenel Horse Center.
