St. John's Center for Early Childhood Education hosts a registration program for the 2005-06 classes on Thursday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m., at the center, 5312 Backlick Road, Springfield. St. John's offers classes for 2, 3 and Pre-K 4 year olds. For more information, call 703-256-7748.

TOT Preschool at Sydenstricter United Methodist Church sponsors program registration. Open to children 3 to 4 years old. Morning classes are from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., two or three times a week. Afternoon classes are from 12:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., three times a week. Spaces are limited. For more information, call 703-644-6384. Hayfield Secondary students taking anatomy and physiology recently viewed a quadruple bybass heart surgery at Inova Fairfax Hospital. The students watched through a clear dome, looking directly down at the operation. Monitors in the room allowed a view of the surgery, while a nurse explained each step and passed around samples of the equipment being used.
