Mary Lou Wacker

Obituary

After complications from a fall on Christmas Eve, Mary Lou Wacker, 77, a long-time resident of Reston, passed away peacefully Dec. 27. She was born in Bicknell, Ind., in 1927. She was an active community volunteer. In her life as a Navy wife and mother, her involvement with the charitable causes of the OfficersÕ WivesÕ Club was one of a compassionate and unassuming leader. She rallied around each new port with vigor and profound patriotism. She continued in that service after moving to Reston in 1966.

Her husband, Bill, preceded her in death in 2002. Her survivors include daughter, Cheryl Pickup; sons, Brad Wacker and Tim Walker; son-in-law, Tim Pickup; daughters-in-law, Winslow Wacker and Nan Walker; and grandsons, Chris Wacker, Brian Wacker, Michael Pickup and William Wacker. She also leaves Donna Vincent, mother of two of her grandsons. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name may be made to Reston Interfaith, Friends of the Homeless Animals, or the American Cancer Research Institute.
