Week in Reston

A 35-year-old Reston woman, Jennifer Taekyong Yi, died following a car crash on Dec. 20, around 10 p.m. The crash occurred at the 11000 block of South Lakes Drive. Police said she was driving a 2004 Nisan Pathfinder when she attempted to pass a car in the right lane. She hit the curb and lost control of her car, which then slid across the road into the median. Yi was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to Reston Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

According to police, Yi was not wearing a seatbelt, and it is not known whether speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
