Children Enjoy Snowstorm's Aftermath

Snowfall falls short of the prediction.

A few measly inches. While other areas received feet of snow, the Washington area only got a few inches of snow this past weekend.

However, it was enough for children to take to the sledding hills throughout the Mount Vernon area. And unlike last week’s snow that was quickly blown off the hills, Saturday’s snow packed down nicely, making for ideal sledding conditions. A few cross-country skiers ventured out on the roads and bike trail along the George Washington Memorial Parkway.

All activities at the Fairfax County Public Schools were cancelled, including SAT tests. They have been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 5. Main roads were pretty clear by Monday morning, but snow-packed secondary roads led to a two-hour delay for the Fairfax County Public Schools Monday morning.
