Longtime MCA member John Fredricks Dies

John Fredricks, a member of the McLean Citizens Association for over 15 years, died Saturday after a brief illness. He was 75. As a member of the MCA Planning and Zoning Committee, Fredericks also participated in the McLean Revitalization Corp.

Fredricks was described as “a devoted public servant” by board member Susan Turner and characterized as a good friend and listener who provided a level-headed presence to the MCA during his years of service.

The MCA will present an Outstanding Service Award to Fredericks posthumously at a banquet in March. Fredericks was notified of the award just last week.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Else Ann, and two daughters, Lynne Fredricks-Thibodeau and Jill Fredricks-Wood, and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Chain Bridge Road at 2 p.m., Wednesday with burial following at the Andrew Chapel Cemetery in Vienna.
