Navy Seaman Recruit Thalia K. Lewis, daughter of Debra S. and Gregory A. Lewis of Centreville, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Lewis is a 2004 graduate of Paint Branch High School of Burtonsville, Md.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Rebecca B. Cervantes has arrived for duty at Thule Air Base, Greenland. The airman, a security forces flight member with one year of military service, is assigned to the 821st Security Forces Squadron. She is the daughter of Kiberlee J. Bacon of Centreville. Cervantes graduated in 2001 from Chantilly High School.
Kelly M. Clinton has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. Clinton is the daughter of Richard W. and Diane T. Clinton of Centreville. She graduated in 2000 from Chantilly High School.
Cadet Nathan Karcher, son of Chris and Helen Karcher of Centreville, has been recommended for the rank of Command Sergeant Major and the position of Cadet Command Sergeant Major. Karcher will be promoted after completion of Cadet Leadership Training in August for the 2004-2005 school year at Massanutten Military Academy.
James M. Strange has been awarded an Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) college scholarship. The scholarship is designed to cover the cost of tuition, textbooks, laboratory and incidental fees, and a non-taxable monthly stipend during the school year. Upon graduating from college and completing the ROTC program, the cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the Air Force.
Strange is the son of John P. Strange of Provincial Drive, Manassas, and Nancy K. Corbett of Centreville. He is a 2004 graduate of Westfield High School, Chantilly.
