"Clowning Around." Bob Brown, one of America's most popular puppet masters, brings his merry marionettes to perform feats of skill and daring usually found only at the circus through Feb. 20, at the Puppet Company Playhouse, in the North Arcade Building of Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo. "Clara Barton and the Sea Island Hurricanes." During February, African-American History Month, Clara Barton National Historic Site presents a special interpretive program focusing on the events of 1893, when a hurricane devastated the African-American coastal community of Sea Islands, S.C. A photographic exhibit highlights Barton's relief efforts. On Saturdays and Sundays, a slide-show, "Clara Barton and the Sea Island Hurricanes," is shown every hour on the hour, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., prior to house tours. "Peter and the Wolf." “Petite Rouge: A Cajun Red Riding Hood,” book, music and lyrics by Joan Cushing, based on the book by Mike Artell, illustrations by Jim Harris, will be performed Feb. 5-April 3, at Imagination Stage, 4908 Auburn Ave., Bethesda. The Montgomery County Thrift Shop, 7125-27 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, is open on the second Sunday of each month. These Sunday openings permit five nonprofit organizations — Suburban Hospital Auxiliary, Planned Parenthood, National Council of Jewish Women Montgomery County Section, Mental Health Association of Montgomery County and Montgomery County Federation of Women's Clubs — to increase their funding of community service projects.
