Celebrating A Fantastic Fourth

Residents from all over came to Bready Park to celebrate the Fourth of July Monday evening.

Many families and neighbors came to the celebration early, bringing picnic dinners, folding lawn chairs and blankets. Setting up camp in front of the stage, people enjoyed the nice weather — not too hot and humid — and caught up with neighbors walking around.

For those wanting a little more than the picnic food, funnel cakes, hot dogs, corn dogs, ice cream and other fair food goodies were available. For the children there were magicians creating balloon characters and a pickup game of kickball being started on a nearby baseball diamond. There was also bingo set up for all ages under a covered picnic table area, and many of the younger children played on the park's playground area.

Live entertainment took the stage around 7 p.m., with Philip DePalo wowing residents with his sword-swallowing and fire-breathing abilities. Danny and the Juniors, featuring Joe Terry, followed DePalo, singing old favorites, before the fireworks took the audience's attention.
