The League of Reston Artists (LRA) presents its Annual Judged Photography Exhibition at the National Center Gallery of the U.S. Geological Survey through July 31. This exhibition features photographs by photographers from the metro Washington, D.C., region, and $300 in award monies will be presented at the opening reception by this year's judge, Joe Miller. During the reception, visitors will be encouraged to vote for their favorite work. The photographer of the work who receives the most votes will be awarded the People's Choice Award at the opening reception Wednesday, July 13, 5:30-6:30 p.m., in the National Center Gallery of the U.S. Geological Survey. The Reston Community Center and Reston Art Gallery and Studios presents the exhibit Ò13 Artists Ð 13 Views,Ó at Lake Anne, July 6-31. "Evolution" is a an art exhibit that traces the progression of the work of Deborah Remmers from images captured on black and white film to the expressive use of color, line, shape and texture in her paintings and monotype prints. All are welcome to attend the opening reception Friday, July 15, from 6-9 p.m., at the University of Phoenix, Northern Virginia Campus, 11730 Plaza America Drive, Suite 200, Reston. Through Sept. 2, the exhibition is open and free to the public during regular business hours Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.Ð10 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m.Ð1 p.m.

Local basketry artist Virginia Jenkins of Herndon will be featured in "Bushels of Color," a new exhibit at the Artists' Undertaking Gallery at 309 Mill St., Occoquan. The exhibit will open Aug. 2 and continue through Sept. 5. The gallery is open Monday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Call 703-494-0584.

The New York Subway, Chinatown, and Venice will be artfully displayed on six large murals in the exhibition "Scenes of Inspirations and Other Works" from Friday, through Friday, Aug. 26 in Reston. The artist's figurative style is grounded in his studies of art history, providing thoughtful visuals. The Reston Chamber Orchestra invites area musicians who play orchestral instruments Ñ stringed instruments of the violin family, woodwinds, brass and percussion Ñ interested in performing orchestral music to join the orchestra for its annual summer reading sessions.
