The Loudoun County Cooperative Extension Office will offer the Good Gardeners Short Course consisting of six, four-hour sessions Ñ four in the evenings and two Saturday mornings, Aug. 9, 11, 23, and 25, 6-10 p.m., and Aug. 13 and 27, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Cost for the entire six sessions is $250 or attend individual sessions for $50 per session. Topics include botany, soils and fertilizers, composting, insects and disease, turf, woody and herbaceous plants, fruits and vegetables, pruning ornamentals, protecting water quality, basic landscape design, and designing an integrated pest management plan for the home landscape. Sessions will be taught by Extension personnel and Master Gardener volunteers. Registration fees will cover materials, refreshments and will also be used in support of other Master Gardener community educational activities.

This program is geared to anyone who has recently purchased or plan to purchase acreage and are considering beginning a small or part-time farm.
