<cal2>RCC Teen Trip. Reston Community Center's "Beachin'" trip, is a day full at Wildwood Beach in New Jersey. This event is co-sponsored by the Reston Association, the Reston Teen Center, and the Reston Community Center. The trip takes place from 6:30 a.m.-midnight. Attractions include a boardwalk, three amusement parks, two water parks and a lunch on the beach for no additional charge. The trip fee of $10 includes round-trip bus transportation, an all-you-can-eat lunch — barbecued chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, fruit, ice cream and sodas — unlimited admission to more than 150 rides and two water parks.

Sailing School. Join the Herndon Parks and Recreation Department for a trip to the Washington Sailing School, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The trip includes instruction on the basics of sailing and then free time to use newly learned skills on the Potomac River. Date Auction. There will be a Date Auction to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training Program, from 9 p.m. to close. The auction will start at 11 p.m. at TT Reynolds, 10410 Main St. in Fairfax. Admission is $5. There will be live music, a disc jockey, and prizes. This is an open auction where anyone from the audience can participate. In addition selected members of Washington, D.C., area bands will go up for auction. Bird Survey. Join a naturalist from Ellanor C. Lawrence Park as the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust participates in a bird survey. The survey will help participants learn about summer bird ecology, avian survey techniques and research that are being done on local bird populations. Workshop. This workshop, called Managing My Money, is the first in the Getting Real series for young adults, age 17 and up. This is for children of families directly affected by the Pentagon attack. <cal2>Flag Football. The IFFL (Reston-based men’s adult flag football league) will host its annual "Bark Bowl" tournament at Baron Cameron Park in Reston. Reston Community Center has chartered the Bounty Hunter for a one-day fishing trip, from 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. The boat will pick up at Chesapeake Beach and take the group fishing on the Choptank River. The trip fee includes transportation, fishing gear, lunch, five hours of fishing and a trip coordinator. The fee for the trip is $62 for people who live or work in Reston and $85 for all others. <cal2>Latinos in Baseball. Tim Wendel will tell the stories of key Latino baseball stars in a slide-show presentation. A local writer, Wendel was one of the founders of USA Today Baseball Weekly and has covered baseball for nearly two decades. His talk will detail the rise of Latinos superstars and discuss how the sport has been transformed. His book, "The New Face of Baseball: The One-Hundred-Year Rise and Triumph of Latinos in America's Favorite Sport," named Top History Book by the Latino Literary Awards, will be available for signing after the program.
