James Madison High School PTSA sponsors a raffle for a chance to win a 2005 Scion xA. Tickets are $35, and proceeds benefit the annual All-Night Graduation Celebration. Only 600 tickets will be sold, and the drawing takes place June 3, provided that a minimum number of 350 tickets are sold. Participants must be 18 or older. Volunteer Fairfax hosts its fourth annual Points of Light Youth Leadership Institute Aug. 8 to Aug. 12, at the Mason District Government Center. Marshall Road Elementary School participated in a Books from the Heart book drive, collecting more than 1,000 books for Hybla Valley Elementary School in Alexandria. For over three weeks, Marshall Road collected new and gently-used books for local elementary school aged children.

Rebecca Bellotto, a student at Madison High School, won a college-sponsored merit scholarship for screen writing.
