Herndon High School students celebrated prom this Saturday at the Reston Sheraton.
Prom-goers showcased attire ranging from the traditional tuxedo and vest-tie combination to top hats with canes and zoot suits, black and white.
The young women of the prom also showed a variety of dress styles. Dresses ranged from short flapper-style dresses to full skirts and spaghetti straps to strapless. The colors also ranged from hot pink and pale yellow to white, black and tea-green.
During the course of the evening students entered the hotel by way of red carpet into one of the ballrooms. The outside waiting area was filled with tables of finger food including fruit, cheese and crackers and even a freezer full of ice cream bars.
Inside the ballroom were more tables, chairs and a dance floor packed with students. Some of the young women opted to leave their shoes on the table, to maximize their dancing abilities.
The prom king and queen were announced later in the evening, after most students had arrived. This year's king was Matt Price and Colleen Timothy was named the queen.
