Sampling Taste of River Farm

Fund-raiser benefits American Horticultural Society and Mount Vernon-Lee Education Partnership Scholarship Fund.

Shrimp and grits. Mango gazpacho. Smoked salmon. Shrimp quesadillas. Decadent chocolates.

These were just a few of the items served at last week’s "Taste of River Farm." Held at George Washington’s River Farm, it was coordinated by The Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce and presented by the Hollin Hall Pastry Shop and the Mount Vernon Voice. Proceeds from the event will benefit “The Growing Connection” at the American Horticultural Society and the Mount Vernon-Lee Education Partnership Scholarship Fund.

Participating in the event were: Avalon Caterers, Balducci’s Catering Co., Catering by Windows, Complements Catering, Federal City Caterers, Gourmet Solutions, Hollin Hall Pastry Shop, Kingsbury Chocolates, La Prima Catering, Pica Deli & Gourmet Catering, Restaurant Eve, Seagar’s Restaurant, Splendid Fare, Tasteful Affairs Catering and Willow Restaurant.

Martha Washington made an appearance to celebrate her birthday with the guests.
