101 Teachers Retire

Loudoun County Public Schools lost 101 teachers, administrators and classified personnel to retirement this year. They gave a total of 2,534 years of service.

Among the Sterling-area retirees with 15 years or more of employment in Loudoun, were teachers Cheryl Bacon of Countryside Elementary School with 17 years; Diane Brown of Rolling Ridge Elementary, with 32 years; Kathleen Dugger of Park View High School, with 37 years; Pamela Gregory of Potowmack Elementary, 30 years; Kathleen Rose of Countryside Elementary, with 27 years; Janice Weisen of Park View High School, with 16 years; Georgeanna Wellings of Rolling Ridge Elementary, with 15 years; Mary Wyzkoski of Sterling Middle School, with 15 years; and Cheryl Young of Lowes Island Elementary with 29 years. Wendy Leonard, a Lowes Island Elementary teacher, had six years in Loudoun and 34 years in education; Park View Principal Anne Brooks with 32 years in Loudoun County; and Sterling Middle School Prinicpal Ellen Fein with 28 years, also retired.

Other Sterling-area retirees were Barbara Caylor with 16 years in Loudoun. She worked in the Guilford Elementary cafeteria. Ruth Kelly, a bus driver with 25 years; Thomas Legg, a mechanic with 26 years; Doreen Philyaw, a bus driver with 31 years; and Do Je Weaver, cafeteria manager of the Sugarland Elementary with 27 years, also retired.

In the administration office in Leesburg, Foreign Language Supervisor Ann Aversango retired with 26 years in Loudoun; Elementary Education Director Ronald Dyer with 30 years; Special Education Secretary Norma Moles with 27 years; Environmental Specialist Charles Steven Jr. with 27 years; and Pupil Services Coordinator Diana Taplin with 32 years.
