Fairfax County Seeks Participation

<bt>Fairfax County invites residents to one of two Community Watershed Forums to learn about issues facing the Difficult Run watershed. The residents are invited to become a part of the process that will determine solutions to flooding, stream bank erosion, water quality and other critical issues in the watershed. The forums will also provide background information to help residents participate in a review of the draft watershed plan to be held in June. The two forums will take place Thursday, March 3, at 7 p.m., at the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Rooms 9/10, Fairfax, and Saturday, March 5, at 1:30 p.m., at the Langston Hughes Middle School Cafeteria, 11401 Ridge Heights Road, Reston.

<sh>Last Chance to Skate

<bt>Reston Town Center's Ice Skating Pavilion will be open for the skating season through Sunday, March 13. The Pavilion hosts birthday, private, and corporate parties. It also offers ice skating lessons. Call the skating hotline at 703-709-6300.

<sh>Seeking Volunteers

<bt>Reston Town Center is seeking volunteers for its upcoming array of charitable events in the spring. The Spring Fling on April 16, an afternoon of fashion and talent, benefits the Children's Hospital. The Fifth Annual Pet Fiesta is on May 7. It features the Dog House of Style Fashion Show and Super Pet Adoption among other programs, and it benefits animal rescue organizations. <sh>HONK! at CenterStage

<bt>A musical based on "The Ugly Duckling," by Hans Christian Andersen, is a celebration of being different. The musical was awarded the 2000 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical. HONK! will be presented at Reston Community Center's CenterStage theatre, on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., on March 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, and 26. There will also be Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. on March 13 and 20. The March 12 performance will be sign-language interpreted. The ticket prices are $17 on Saturdays, $15 for adults on Fridays and Sundays, and $12 for senior citizens and students on Fridays and Sundays.

<sh>RA Candidate Forums

<bt>Two Candidates Forums have been scheduled for the Reston Association Board of Directors election. The forums will take place on Wednesday, March 9, at 7 p.m. at Dogwood Elementary School, 12300 Glade Drive and on Saturday, March 12, at 12 noon, at the RA Main Office, 1930 Isaac Newton Square. The forums will be taped and broadcast on Reston Community Television Channel 28 on Friday, March 18, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, March 19, at 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Friday, March 25, at 8 p.m.; and Saturday, March 26, at 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. The forums will be moderated by former Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairperson Kate Hanley.
