2005 Cappies Nominations Announced

Cappies critics assembled Sunday, May 15 to cast their votes for nominations and awards for high school theater productions. The awards will be presented at the sixth annual Cappies Gala on June 5 at the Concert Hall of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Cappies is a high school critics and awards program involving 50 schools in the Virginia, Maryland and D.C. areas.

Arlington County schools received several nominations:

<lst>Special Award for Creativity: Caitlin Davies, director of H-B Woodlawn's "Noises Off."

Male Critic: Greg Benson of H-B Woodlawn.

Critics Team: H-B Woodlawn.

Sets: Jeff Carr and Andy Derbyshire from the stage crew for H-B Woodlawn's "Noises Off."

Props & Effects: Maggie Colella, Kent O'Conner, Adam Schiffer and Emily Yaffe of Wakefield High for "Radium Girls."

Stage Crew: Leslie Keller and Tori Stempniewicz of H-B Woodlawn for "Noises Off."

Ensemble in a Play: the Reporters of Wakefield High for "Radium Girls."

Comic Actor in a Play: Quill Nebeker-Monch of H-B Woodlawn for "Noises Off."

Comic Actress in a Play: Megan McShea of Wakefield School for "The White Liars & Black Comedy" and Emily Newhook of H-B Woodlawn for "Noises Off."

Featured Actor in a Play: Thomas Schratwieser of H-B Woodlawn for "Noises Off."

Featured Actress in a Play: Amanda Adams of Wakefield High for "Radium Girls."

Lead Actor in a Play: Will Haltiwanger of H-B Woodlawn for "Noises Off" and John Nelson of Wakefield High for "Radium Girls."
