Spring-time Send-off for Prom

It was hard to stay indoors as Wootton seniors got ready for their prom May 27 at the Galleria at Lafayette Center in Washington. Couples and friends posed for their parents at several pre-prom parties in North Potomac before heading off to downtown dinners, prom dancing, and Wootton's after-prom party, hosted at the school.

Barbara Freedenberg hosted more than 10 couples at her house, before the group headed downtown in a limo bus. Freedenberg said that given the cost of prom, she's lucky to have all boys. "They're low maintenance," she said, while parents of girls have to worry about dresses, jewelry, and hair styling.

Around the corner, neighbors and friends close to Robert Frost Middle School gathered for photos at the Merrills, before the couples rolled out in a stretch Ford Explorer limo.

Lauren Rossnan's parents catered their own multi-course dinner before sending their seven guests off in an all-white limousine — perfect for spring.
