Kaine Leads Kilgore in Arlington Fundraising

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Timothy M. Kaine generated more campaign finance contributions from Arlington donors than Republican opponent Jerry W. Kilgore leading up to the Nov. 8 election.

Kaine received a total of $383,174 from 416 private residents and businesses, while Kilgore raised $301,961 from 177 donors, according to the non-partisan Virginia Public Access Project.

While most contribution to Kaine emanated from residents, a large bulk of Kilgore’s donations were from Arlington businesses and associations. To date Kilgore has raised a total of $16,796,769 to Kaine’s $15,372,973.

Independent H. Russ Potts, Jr. has struggled to raise funds in Arlington, receiving only $2,700 from four donors in the county. He has raised a total of $1,221,668.

Kaine’s top contributors from Arlington County:

- Lawrence C. Roberts, an attorney who gave $45,472, including many in kind donations.

- Diane M. Smith, attorney donated $40,050 to Kaine’s campaign.

- Thomas A. DePasquale, founder of Outtask, a leading provider of corporate travel and expense automation software, gave $34,009.

- David W. Briggs, local attorney donated $8,750 in cash

- Richard P. Biby, who works in information technology donated $8,100.

Kilgore’s top contributors from Arlington County:

- Community Pride Fund, a cruise industry political action committee that gave $75,000.

- American Chemistry Council, which represents and lobbies on behalf of the leading companies in the chemistry business gave $25,000.

- Kellogg Brown & Root, the Halliburton subsidiary donated $25,000.

- Herbert N. Morgan, local real estate developer contributed $16,000.

- Sydney E. Albrittain, Arlington real estate developer gave $15,000.

Potts’s top contributors from Arlington County:

- Sidney O Dewberry, engineer who runs a design firm gave $2,000.

- Jeffery Clarke, local IT software engineer gave $250.

- Erik Brero Van, retiree contributed $250

- Lora Ann Rinker, local homemaker donated $200.
