The Friends of Claude Moore Park, a 501C(3) organization and advisory group to Claude Moore Park, will hold its September monthly membership meeting Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at Pavilion 2 in the historic area; tours of the Lanesville House will be available during the evening.

Agenda topics for this fall meeting include the upcoming restoration of the Bridges Schoolhouse, the fall arts and crafts show and the results of the archaeological dig. The Friends are looking for new members who want to preserve this green space and resource to the community, and this meeting is open to the general public. Topic areas for new members include history and restoration, gardening/plants, trails/hiking, sports, special events and membership. Members of all ages and abilities are welcome.

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) at Capital Community Church is now taking registration for the 2005-2006 MOPS year. MOPS provides mothers with the support they need through resources and relationships. The group meets the second and fourth Friday of each month, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., at Capital Community Church in Ashburn Village. Child care is provided. The new MOPS year starts Sept. 9. The Countryside Women's Club's September meeting will be held Friday, Sept. 9, at 9:30 a.m., at the Parkway Pool Meeting Room, Algonkian Parkway in CountrySide. Vestal's Gap Walking Club for ages 18 and up. Enjoy conversation and a brisk walk throughout the park's 11 miles of trails. The club meets outside the Visitor Center and walks anywhere from 30-60 minutes, depending on the route. Walkers with dogs on a leash are welcome. Birthday Blessing Inc. A nonprofit organization created to deliver gifts to needy children who might not receive a gift on their birthday. Birthday Blessing finds these children through social services, homeless shelters, youth shelters and prison ministries. The organization is looking for sponsors, new toys for children 3-16 years old, new books, wrapping paper, birthday cards and shipping boxes. The Loudoun County Crime Solvers (LCCS) Committee is seeking new members from the community.
